Manns continuing to dominate the WLA

Jun 26, 2024

Zach Manns is having another great summer with the Nanaimo Timbermen.

Despite currently being on the bottom team in the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA), Manns is carrying his team into the battle every game.

Through seven games with the Nanaimo Timbermen this summer, the Saskatchewan Rush forward has 16 goals and 19 assists. Both of those are tops on his club, including the 35 points, a total of 14 higher than anyone else on the Tmen.

On Sunday (Jun.23), Manns had three goals and three assists as he carried his squad to victory over the second-place team in the league, the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

The WLA is a “Senior A” summer ball league under Lacrosse Canada rules, so the game rules do slightly differ from the National Lacrosse League, with the champions competing for the Mann Cup.

During the summer of 2023, Manns was named co-MVP of the league after posting an astonishing 89 points in 18 games. Through three seasons in Nanaimo, the island sniper has 206 points in 50 combined regular season and playoff games.

The Victoria product had a breakout NLL season after being acquired by the Rush in a trade that sent Mark Matthews out east. Manns finished his 2023/24 campaign with 37 goals and 47 points, only trailing Robert Church and Ryan Keenan on the offensive front.
