Smith played juniors in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League in 2014 and 2015 with the Winnipeg Blizz, before transitioning to the Junior A ranks with the Toronto Beaches. After a succesful 2022 summer ball campaign with the Nanaimo Timbermen, Jerrett was signed as a street free agent by the Rush.
