Preview: Saskatchewan vs San Diego (Feb.1)
Jan 27, 2025Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatchewan Rush (5-2) and San Diego Seals (3-4) will meet up at Pechanga Arena on Saturday, February 1st.
The Rush are coming off a 17-13 win over the Albany FireWolves on Co-op Field. Robert Church led the way with five goals and five assists in the win, while captain Ryan Keenan was next in line with a nine-point effort. Zach Manns still leads the club with 35 points this season. Thomas Kiazyk picked up his first career NLL win in his first start, stopping 39/52. The Rush could be without defender Isaac Ngyou who left the game against Philadelphia on December 28th in the first half and Jerrett Smith who was injured against Las Vegas on January 11th.
Back at the beach: The Saskatchewan Rush beat the San Diego Seals 13-8 last season when these two teams met in their lone meeting. The Rush are 6-5 all time against the Seals dating back to 2019.
San Diego’s new look squad is back in action after a bye week following a 12-10 loss to Las Vegas. Ryan Benesch had a hat trick in the contest, while Chris Origlieri made 28 saves. Forward Rob Hellyer leads the club with 33 points this season, while Origlieri has a .765 save percentage.
Old Friends: San Diego boasts the likes of Ben McIntosh and Kyle Rubisch, two former members of the Saskatchewan Rush.
