Reed and Bukta ink first NLL deals

SASKATOON, SK – The Saskatchewan Rush have signed 2023 draft picks Scott Reed and Curtis Bukta to one-year contracts.

 

A fourth-round pick, Bukta was selected 58th overall and is coming off of his final season at Newberry College. The 6’4 forward had 18 goals and 40 points at the NCAA D2 level this spring. In juniors, he won the 2019 Minto Cup with the Orangeville Northmen.   

 

In the sixth-round, Reed was picked up by the Rush at 87th overall. In 2022, the 5’7 forward won a Minto Cup with the Whitby Warriors, before leading the nation in scoring at Newberry College, recording 91 points and becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer with 273 points across five seasons. 

 

The Saskatchewan Rush still have Mike Messenger (franchised) and Cam Wengreniuk left unsigned from the 23/24 roster, along with Levi Anderson and Josh Zawada who are on the team's protected draft list.
