Saskatchewan Rush announce 2023/24 roster
Nov 27, 2023Saskatoon, SK - With less than a week until the 2023/24 National Lacrosse League regular season gets underway, the Saskatchewan Rush have released their roster for the upcoming year.
Captain Ryan Keenan and Robert Church will once again lead the way on offence, with returnee Clark Walter stepping into a larger role as well. Incoming forwards like Patrick Dodds and Zach Manns will look to make their mark early in green, while newcomers Mike Triolo, Cam Wengreniuk and Nathaniel Kozevnikov will fill the much needed depth roles in Saskatchewan.
On defence, Mike Messenger and Holden Garlent will be expected to anchor the young group, that features a lot of athleticism and youth out the back gate. Bobby Kidd III, Isaac Ngyou, Mike Mallory, Connor McClelland, Jake Boudreau, Adam Jay, Ryan Barnable, Jerrett Smith and Keegan Bell round out the list of defenders on the active roster, a group that continues to gain valuable experience while many are hungry for their first championship.
Between the pipes, Frank Scigliano and Laine Hruska will be the duo to start the season. Scigliano has long cemented his role in the NLL as a starter, who is looking to get back into into the playoffs for a fifth straight season. Hruska enters his second full season in Saskatchewan, but with the departures in the offseason, the Warman product will be relied upon to be the go-to guy when his number is called.
As is the case with all teams, the Rush hace assigned four players to their practice squad. Goalteder Thomas Kiazyk, forward Jake Bowen and defenders Jeremy Searle and Nick Preston will start the season there.
Saskatchewan opens up the regular season on Friday, December 1st in Halifax. Faceoff is at 6:00PM Sask time and can be heard live on 92.9 The Bull, with the pre-game show starting at 5:45PM.
Tickets for the Rush’s home opener on December 9th are still available.
