Scigliano stands tall in Rush's second loss of the season
Jan 18, 2025Frank Scigliano made 43 saves Saturday night for the Saskatchewan Rush in an 11-8 loss against the Toronto Rock at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga.
Brock Haley opened the scoring, while Robert Church and Ryan Keenan also found the back of the net in the first quarter as the two sides were tied 3-3.
In the second, Zach Manns and Clark Walter jumped in on the fun, but the Rock’s offence kept punching back leaving the game knotted at 5-5 at half.
Toronto went on a four-goal run to start the third quarter before Robert Church cut off the run, leaving Saskatchewan down 9-6 heading into the final frame.
Church made Saskatchewan Rush history in the contest, picking up his 688th point, the most in team history since the Edmonton Rush relocated a province east.
Bobby Kidd III found the back of the net for his first of the season in the fourth quarter and Ryan Keenan scored his second of the game, but it wasn’t enough as the Rock closed out the Rush with the 11-8 win.
Frank Scigliano stopped 43/53 in the loss, while Jake Naso won 9/23 faceoffs against TD Ierlan at the dot.
Saskatchewan’s powerplay was 1/3 on the evening. Matt Hossack led the defence with four caused turnovers and Ryan Barnable blocked three shots.
Next up, the Saskatchewan Rush are back on Co-op Field in a couple weeks, when the Albany FireWolves come to SaskTel Centre on Saturday, January 25th at 7:00PM.
