Walter sparks Rush comeback victory over Rock
Nov 16, 2024The Saskatchewan Rush picked up an 11-9 win against the Toronto Rock Saturday night in Oakville.
In the first quarter, the home side jumped out to a 3-1 lead. Robert Church got the Rush on the board with a powerplay marker assisted by Ryan Keenan and Zach Manns.
Saskatchewan chipped away with goals from Manns and Clark Walter in the second quarter, but Toronto added two of their own to lead 5-3 at the break.
During the third frame, the Rush chipped away the Rock lead thanks to goals from Jake Boudreau, Josh Zawada and Church, levelling the game at 6-6.
In the final frame, the veterans took over as Church scored twice, Walter added another, Austin Shanks buried his first of the preseason and Levi Anderson chipped in with one as the Saskatchewan took the exibition contest 11-9.
At the dot, Jake Naso went 14/23 on faceoffs. In goal, Frank Scigliano made 34 saves for the win.
Next up, the Saskatchewan Rush will host weekend four of training camp presented by Motion Fitness in Saskatoon.
